Frequently Asked Questions
So, what is life coaching?
Life coaching can look a lot like counselling or therapy from the outside. It generally involves working with a coach 1:1 or in a small group, meeting regularly to talk and spending time exploring where you’re at in life. The difference with coaching is that instead of focusing on past experiences, we primarily seek to understand where you are right now, where you’d like to go and crucially how you can get there. Life coaching offers a safe space where you can reconnect with yourself, an opportunity for you to explore, play with ideas and identities, examine you needs and wants and lean into the possibilities of life...free from judgement and consequence. Working with a life coach offers you dedicated time, space and support to help you move forward in life, whatever that means for you...
What style of coaching do I facilitate?
I draw on several psychological and physiological models within the layers of my coaching practice. These include:
-
Person centred coaching,
-
Psychodynamic coaching,
-
Polyvagal theory.
In practical terms, that means I see you (and empower you to see yourself) as a whole, truly capable and empowered individual within the broader context of your life and experiences. Together, we'll recognise the role that unconscious processes and programming might be playing in your relationship to the world, and we'll work with your body and nervous system to understand your needs and potential challenges on a deeper level. It's a truly holistic approach which is trauma informed.
What sort of things can I support you with?
-
Reconnecting to you and who you are now,
-
Gaining clarity around what you need and want in life,
-
Identifying how you might meet those needs practically day to day,
-
Releasing negative self talk and cultivating a more compassionate, supportive inner dialogue,
-
Building self trust and confidence,
-
Redefining self-care so that it feels accessible and genuinely nourishing,
-
Creating a toolbox of resources that you can rely on to truly support you through the ups and downs of daily life.
Is life coaching confidential?
The coaching container is a safe, confidential space and everything you share during our work together is held with the greatest respect and trust.
For legal and ethical reasons there are some limitations to that confidentiality. I may need to speak to someone else if during the course of our work I become concerned about yours or someone else's safety. I may also need to share information with others if it relates to the safeguarding of children and/or vulnerable adults, the commission of a crime, terrorism or if I am compelled to do so by court order. You can learn more about safeguarding at Let's Get Back to You, here.

What can you expect from working with me?
Our coaching sessions will last up to either 60 or 90 minutes depending on the pathway of support you've chosen.
They offer space and time for you to truly connect with yourself, where you are and how you're feeling in the moment. We might explore a specific theme or see what naturally unfolds. We'll draw on a wide range of tools and techniques including: conversation, journalling, energetic and body based practices to support gentle self enquiry, greater self compassion and personal empowerment. Allowing you to grow your awareness, deepen your understanding, and take meaningful, achievable action towards the things you need and want in this phase of your life.
Everything we do here, everything I bring to you during our coaching sessions is an invitation to explore. You are in charge and it’s entirely up to you what you engage with and to what extent. I encourage you to take what serves you and leave what doesn’t, to remain open and curious and to let me know when things resonate and when they don't. It's about finding a path that feels true and aligned with you.
It's important to be aware that you may feel triggered or challenged by some of the things we discuss or some of the feelings that come up as we’re exploring. This is normal and natural, discomfort is hugely informative and shows us where you might be needing some support. It’s important that we keep talking in those moments so that I can help you to feel safe. This is a safe, confidential space, where you can be yourself, explore and experiment without judgement. However it is not therapy and I am not a clinician. If I feel that additional support or a different modality of support is needed, I will always gently tell you and help you to access that care.
How long do people work with me?
Choosing and working with a life coach is a uniquely personal experience, and everyone has different needs and goals which they bring to the table. I've designed my coaching containers to be completely flexible for this reason. Some people work with me on an ongoing basis over months or years, some just while they navigate a particular season of life.
I tend to start most people off with a 90 minute session, which allows us to get everything out on the table and really understand where you are and what's going on now. In that session we'll explore where you'd like to go and set some clear goals and intentions for our time together. After that I typically see people every 2 weeks for as long as feels right to them. We'll check in regularly (usually every 6-12 weeks) to see how things are feeling and to adjust anything we need to. So, whether you'd like ad hoc sessions here and there to dig into particular issues, want to pay as you go, or would prefer some ongoing support, we can create the coaching space that feels right for you, whatever phase of your journey you're in.
What does coaching with me cost?
Ad hoc sessions are available for either: 60 minutes (£60) or 90 minutes (£80).
Alternatively, if you are looking for some ongoing support, we'll start with:
-
A 90 minute initial deep dive consultation £80
-
Coaching sessions are £60 an hour after that (pay as you go)
-
Or you can block book 6 sessions to be taken over 3 months £360 or £120 per month.
It’s really important to me that my offerings are inclusive and accessible to those who really need and can benefit from them. In alignment with that, each quarter I offer at least one ‘pay what you can space’. These spaces are open to anyone that’s ready and committed to doing the work on and for themselves. There is no ‘entry’ criteria or bench mark for financial affordability/need and I will never ask you to prove your eligibility. I trust and want to be there for you, so let’s do it our way!! You can find out more about "pay what you can' here.
Can I access support between sessions?
As you continue to explore outside of our sessions, you can use Whatsapp, to share any thoughts or experiences with me that you’d like to revisit, reflect on, or unpack during our time together. This space is not for active coaching as such, but it is a container for you to share your independent experiences as they happen, so that they are expressed in the moment, and can be explored the next time we see each other.
What if coaching doesn't feel helpful?
If you feel that our coaching or an aspect of it isn't helping in the way you'd hoped, I encourage you to you to bring your concerns and reflections to our sessions so that we can talk and adapt our pace, style or the focus of our work. This is a safe, judgement free space and feedback is always welcome, encouraged and forms a vital part of the process. Coaching is a co-creative, collaborative experience and sometimes it can take a few sessions to find our rhythm and flow. Often, understanding the things that don't feel helpful, can teach us as much, if not more than the things which do.
If you or I decide that a different coach or modality might be a better fit for your needs, than I'll of course support you in that process. Every part of your coaching experience should feel safe and supportive, even if we ultimately need to make a change.

Can we talk before I commit?
Absolutely yes, I actually recommend it. I invite all my potential clients into a complimentary 30 minute 1:1 discovery call, as this is a great way for us to get to know each other, and for me to better understand your needs and how I can support you in our work together. We can talk via Google Meet or phone, whichever feels most comfortable for you and during that call we'll make a plan for what your unique coaching container might look like.
If you choose to go ahead with coaching, I'll get everything organised using my client portal Paperbell. You'll have access to your own client dashboard where you can review and amend session bookings, make payments and leave me updates on your independent work. You'll also be able to find my terms of service, safeguarding policy and any resources we discuss there.
You can book a 30 minute discovery call by dropping me a message via the contact form below, or by clicking here to book.

How do I book a coaching session?
The dates and times of our coaching sessions will be mutually agreed, and can be booked at the end of a previous session, via email/whatsapp or via the client portal. If you have chosen to block book, we can arrange all 6 appointments at the start of our work. Don't worry, we can always make amendments if we need to.
How do I make payment?
There are a couple of different ways you can pay for your coaching sessions depending on whether you'd like some ongoing or more flexible support.
-
Pay as you go. You'll receive a reminder email 48 hours before each appointment, and inside you'll find a payment link where you can make payment by credit/debit card, apple or google pay.
-
Block booking. If you know you'd like some ongoing support you can book 6 coaching sessions as a block. I will send you a payment link for this before we start our first session and you can pay the amount in full (£360) or spread the cost over 3 monthly payments of £120. Please let me know which you'd prefer at the time of booking.
I request that all payments are made at least 48 hours prior to our agreed session time, in accordance with my cancelation policy.
How do I cancel or rearrange a coaching session?
Life happens. If you need to cancel or reschedule a session I understand and kindly ask for a minimum of 48 hours’ notice (except in extenuating circumstances). Please note, that in person sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours notice may incur a room hire fee of either £10 or £13 (depending on the agreed location).
If you are running late for a session (in person or online) I will wait for 15 minutes before rescheduling the appointment for another occasion.
If you completely miss a scheduled appointment with no notice, this will be counted as one of your used sessions and if you are paying as you go, the full session charge will still apply. Again, if the session is intended to be in person, it will be subject to an additional room hire fee.
You can contact me via email or whatsapp to make amendments to your bookings.
