Is it time to take some space, to pause and rest a while?

Can you give yourself the grace of space?

In a world of go go go, of productivity and chasing, where the to do list reins and the 9-5 boldly declares when we should or shouldn’t be working (and playing), it’s easy to feel like we’re bursting at the seams. That life needs to be squashed and squeezed into a particular format or routine, in order to be ‘right’ or ‘good enough’…but that can leave us feeling restricted, claustrophobic, disconnected and even disempowered. We pack our schedules with as much as possible, feeling guilty for what we may have left undone and resentful of the fact that at the end of the day, there’s very little left in the tank for us.

But we can make little tweaks to change that, to open up room, to slow things down and create some space…invite in some grace and give ourselves permission to move a little more gently and freely.

This could mean:

  • Holding off on the job you were planning to cram into your lunch break and moving it into a less intense day instead, so that it doesn’t interrupt your down time and means you can read, rest or simply eat your lunch in peace today.

  • Giving yourself permission to prioritise nourishing activities like hobbies and play. Validating them as fundamental parts of a healthy and enriching life. Making them an intentional part of your day to day plans, rather than optional extras to be enjoyed only when you’ve ‘earned them’.

  • Saying yes to spontaneity and allowing things to flow. We’re not here to be contained or constrained by our lives, we’re here to experience and enjoy them. So if a spontaneous lunch date, mini adventure, mid week take away/movie night, or dance party (non exhaustive list of course) feel good, then give yourself the opportunity to say yes, jump in and embrace your freedom when you want to!

There’s grace in the space… how can you give yourself a little more room today?

So much love
